Job Summary

Position Summary:

At Mott Community College (MCC) faculty facilitate student learning and initiate and participate in efforts to consistently improve the level of student success. As learning facilitators, faculty consistently assess learning outcomes and their own teaching effectiveness (pedagogy). As professionals, faculty adhere to the ethical standards of their profession as outlined, for example, by the NEA and the State of Michigan. Where applicable, faculty maintain licensure and certifications. In addition, full-time faculty have the following key responsibilities:

Specific Teaching Assignment:

Faculty member will be responsible for teaching classes in the Physical Therapist Assistant program. The Coordinator/Instructor is a full-time faculty member who displays leadership, mentorship and guidance for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) faculty group. Responsibilities include both teaching and administrative duties for the program. Assures that students progressing through the courses have learning opportunities directed toward accomplishment of behavioral objectives of the curriculum


Hours/Schedule:
Although full-time faculty are obligated to teach during fall and winter, the nature of their full-time job requires them to perform many of their professional responsibilities year-round. Faculty are required to maintain office hours and will make additional provisions for student consultations as may be necessary and reasonable.

Location: Southern Lakes Branch Center (Fenton, MI)

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Master's degree or higher in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution or a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy with a Master's degree in education or health-related field from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) years recent, relevant full-time Physical Therapy experience that includes experience in the Physical Therapist/Physical Therapist Assistant (PT/PTA) relationship.
  • Licensed as a physical therapist in the state of Michigan or eligibility to obtain Michigan license prior to start date.
  • Teaching experience in at least one of the following areas: academic, clinical, continuing education, in-service, or educational activities for groups of patients and staff
  • One year of experience in an administrative or supervisory role.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrates excellent human relations skills.
  • Understanding of and commitment to community college teaching, mission and philosophy.
  • Innovative, flexible and positive teaching style and understanding the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Technology Skills: Ability to integrate computer applications into teaching.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and college objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish an maintain collegial relationships with students, peers, staff, and administrators; skill in oral and written communication.
