Medical Record Technician (Coder), AD-675-0

 

The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, the Biomedical Research Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, has an opening in its Medical Record Department for an experienced Medical Record Technician (Coder).

 

The position requires demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of health information management, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as the ability to assign appropriate International Classification of Diseases Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM) and/or Current Procedural Terminology (CPT-5) codes. Candidates with a Coding Certification and/or RHIT Certification are highly preferred. Duties include classifying discharge diagnoses and operations/procedures using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding systems as well as entering abstracted medical record information into the Department's clinical abstracting application.

 

The salary range is $26,500 to $55,300 (commensurate with experience). Full Federal benefit package is available. This position is subject to a background investigation and a pre-employment medical examination. Appointees must be U.S. citizens, resident aliens, or non-resident aliens with a valid employment authorized visa.
