ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE - PSYCHIATRY
Promotes and maintains the psychiatric and mental health of the patient across the institution. Functions in an expanded role, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, dietitians, clergy, etc. to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs along with relevant education who might benefit from psychiatric interventions, either by way of medication or therapy. Conducts comprehensive health assessments, identifies normal/abnormal health characteristics, develops treatment plans, initiates appropriate care, and continuously evaluates outcomes. Care is delivered to psychiatric patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings to offer skills in prevention of and intervention with psychiatric problems, offer crisis intervention for acutely distressed patients or families, and to provide psychotherapy treatment for oncology patients and families as well as other assigned tasks and responsibilities.
Required: Current NJ RN/APN License with Prescriptive authorization, Master's degree in Nursing with two years of Psychiatry or related APN experience required; 5-7 years preferred. Graduate education and related Board of Nurse Examiner (BON) authorization must be consistent with Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
